Cheers and Jeers
When I leave the blogging for late in the evening, my tank is low and I don’t have much coherent to say. I also had a right busy day out in the world — lots of errands and driving around in cold fog. It was rather Dickensian, except for the freeways, cars, cell phones and truly awful Christmas radio music.
But I managed to keep upbeat about the futile errands, and noticed quite a few non-insane people on this Wednesday a week before Christmas. So I’ll blog that…
Cheers to the sales lady at Jo-Ann who came up with a brilliant idea for substituting a necessary item in a doll I’m making.
Cheers to the other PTA mom who I ran into at the grocery store, who confirmed that I needed to have the sweet potatoes to school TOMORROW, not Friday. Whew. Imagine the teacher luncheon without sweet taters!
Jeers to the robotic grocery store clerk who chattered with her colleague while checking me out, and then at the end, asked for my last name. “Why?” “It’s not printed on your receipt.” “Um, ok but…” Something in her was yearning for my last name, and I saw no reason to refuse, figuring she was straining to keep to the script she must perform. “It’s ___.” “Ok, thank you Mrs. ___ do you need help out to your car, Mrs. ___”? UGH. Of course she was talking to my mother, because I’m not a Mrs. and secondly… ugh. Never mind. I can get my groceries out to the car my own self, without the script!
Cheers to the radio station for playing “China Girl” and reminding me just how awesome David Bowie is/was.
Cheers to the new client who told me that they are really looking for creativity … AH! the magic word!
That’s really strange about the last name. I give you my admiration for not laughing in her face when she told you “why.”
